Surgery
Here at Animal Hospital of Casper, we are a full service hospital. We offer routine surgical procedures, such as, surgical sterilization procedures, general surgery, orthopedic and various cancer surgical therapies
Our view on Spaying & Neutering: Surgical Sterilization
Our pets approach sexual maturity at around 6 months. This is the best time to consider neutering or spaying, if you are not going to breed your pet. There is no extra charge for surgery check backs. Your pet will be fully awake and ready to go on the day following surgery.
There are several distinct advantages to performing the surgery prior to puberty. Spaying a female eliminates the risk of uterine infection or cancer, and it can greatly reduce the chance of mammary (breast) cancer. Neutering a male eliminates the risk of testicular cancer or infection, as well as prostate problems. Spayed females do not have heat cycles with associated attraction to males. Neutered males do not tend to roam. The sterilization surgery DOES NOT alter your pets personality nor cause excessive weight gain.
Laboratory
Our clinic uses Idexx technology to provide you with current labratory procedures. Included but not limited to blood work-ups, heartworm testing, internal parasite analysis, histopathology, bacteriology, and urinalysis.
Radiology/Endoscopy/EKG
Radiography: is one of the most common means of diagnosis of musculo-skeletal pathology, as well as, chest, abdomen and head. automatic film procession allows evaluation in a short time interval. Evaluations can be mailed and emailed further consultation with veterinary specialists.
Endoscopy: Using a flexible fiber optic endoscope, our Doctors can visualize areas previously not seen except by surgical exploration. Visualizing tissues, biopsies and removal of foreign bodies (balls, gloves, fishhooks, etc.) can often be done without surgery to your pet. This procedure still must be done under a general gas anesthesia, but most pets can go home the same day!!
Electrocardiogram (EKG): give an electrical analysis of heart function for our canine and feline patients. Heart rate and rhythm disturbances become apparent and help us determine the type of heart dysfunction or disease. We can better determine suggested medication, nutritional and exercise needs, as well as, a more accurate outlook.
Dentistry
Veterinary dentistry is an extremely important part of most all veterinary practices, including Animal Hospital. The mouth is the main entry for all items into your pet's body. Bacteria - indicated by plaque, tartar and periodontal disease - is allowed into the blood stream 24 hour a day at the gum line. Chronic bacterial diseases translates to damage to other organ systems, such as the heart, liver and kidney. Serious oral infections also will, of course, enter via the stomach and intestinal tract. Loss of teeth and associated infection means your pet may not be able to maintain optimum nutritional status. Your pet's good oral health directly relates to a LONG, HAPPY and HEALTHY LIFE!!

For example there are many diets out there that are balanced for patients with kidney, heart, diabetes, or even arthritis problems.
Proper dieting for your feline and canine companies can also help with allergies and even obesity. Obesity is a common problem in many pets and can ultimately lead to medical complications. We strive to help you pick and plan a diet that is nutritionally complete that will keep your companion happy and healthy for all the years to come.
