Foreign Body, My foot!
Meet Jefferson. He is a two and half year old chocolate Labrador and real tough
cookie.
He first came up lame on
his left rear leg with an associated puncture and swelling of his central pad on
that foot. With initial antibiotic therapy and cleaning of the wound, Jefferson
made normal progress over the next 10 days. After the antibiotics were finished,
Jefferson's again became swollen and uncomfortable. More work up needed.....
This radiograph revealed the problem. Radiology
helps us diagnose problems that we are, otherwise, unable to see or feel.
This nearly inch long piece of glass was removed from Jefferson's pad. Jefferson
is now expected to have a normal and complete recovery. We are as happy as
Jefferson and his owners about his future!
